The 12 Characteristics of Relatability #1 Authenticity When we lack authenticity, relationships suck. You may wonder what one has to do with the other, and my answer is EVERYTHING. Navigating relationships without authenticity is like driving around a foreign land without navigation, you know where you want to go, but keep getting lost. In relationships, we generally know what we want, and many of us ignore our internal cues that tell us how to get there, which leads to frustration. Contrary to popular belief, authenticity isn't really about keeping it real, but about keeping it connected; not to other people, rather it's a commitment to being connected, congruent, and consistent with yourself.
